Dental Implants

Are you missing one tooth, a few teeth, or all of your teeth and looking for a reliable solution to bring your smile back?

Dental implants offer a method that is not only attractive but also safeguards your health by keeping your jaw strong.

Dr. Joseph Perry at River City Dental Solutions in San Antonio, TX, uses the latest techniques to restore smiles with implants.

Why You Need to Replace Lost Teeth

Missing teeth are not just a cosmetic problem. When teeth are lost, you also lose the tooth root. Tooth roots play an important role in stimulating regenerative bone growth in the jaw to keep it strong. If the jawbone is allowed to deteriorate, you may face more problems:

  • Teeth slowly shifting out of position, which causes uneven wear on teeth as your bite changes
  • Loose teeth or more tooth loss as the jaw weakens
  • Facial features that collapse as the jaw recedes, making you look older

Dr.Perry got me right in for an emergency. I was traveling through San Antonio experiencing extreme pain from an abscessed molar. It was late in the afternoon on a Monday. Within minutes of walking in the front door I was helped to a chair where Dr Perry and his assistant Leslie had me out if pain, ex-rayed, diagnosed, and tooth removed in 20 minutes. Chris, at the front desk , was helpful and patient as I fumbled the paper work. What a crew! Everyone in the office was incredibly courteous and knowledgeable. Five Stars is not enough. I wish I lived in Texas for I would definitely have this team taking care of everyone I know. Thank you Dr Perry.

My old dentist quoted an outrageous price for an elaborate procedure that was “the only option”. A coworker referred me to River City and I am so thankful she did. Dr. Perry solved my issue in just a few minutes for pennies in comparison. He explained exactly what he was doing, what I should expect, and how to treat the area moving forward. The staff members here are kind, welcoming, gentle, genuine...I could go on forever. I am relieved to have found an honest provider!

What Are Dental Implants?

Whether you need just one tooth or an entire denture, dental implants are the most trusted and reliable tooth replacement solution available in dentistry. The dental implant itself is a small titanium post that is surgically inserted into the jaw, where it acts as a tooth root. A complete tooth restoration includes the implant, a connector piece called an abutment, and the restoration itself. Dental implants are the closest thing to having your natural teeth back.

Life-Changing Solutions Dental Implant Options

Dr. Joseph Perry at River City Dental Solutions in San Antonio uses sophisticated dental technology for long-term results. Implant-supported restorations can replace:
One Missing Tooth

One Missing Tooth

By combining a single dental implant, abutment, and crown, Dr. Perry can restore your smile and bite. The implant and crown help retain bone tissue in the jaw and prevent other teeth from shifting out of position.

A Row of Teeth

A Row of Teeth

Are you missing a row of teeth? Dr. Perry can use two implants to support a dental bridge that will restore your bite and smile. Unlike a traditional bridge, no neighboring teeth will need to be altered using this method.

All Teeth

All Teeth

Multiple implants can be used to support an entire denture and offer patients a stronger bite than traditional dentures that simply rest on the gums. Traditional dentures can't stop jaw atrophy - implant dentures can.

Can Your Jaw Support Dental Implants?

If you've been missing one tooth or many teeth for a while, compromised bone density may be an obstacle to getting dental implants. Dr. Perry at River City Dental Solutions in San Antonio, TX, has options that make more people eligible for life-changing dental implants.
Bone Grafting

Bone Grafting

Bone grafting is a procedure to replace lost tissue in the jawbone and make you eligible for a dental implant. Dr. Perry can use biocompatible grafting material or tissue from another part of your body to create the stable foundation needed for implants. Studies have shown that implants placed in grafted tissue have a similar success rate to implants placed in non-grafted tissue.

Mini Dental Implants

Mini dental implants are smaller versions of standard dental implants and work in much the same way. However, because mini implants are smaller, they do not require as much bone mass to properly fuse with the jaw. Mini dental implants are less invasive, so there is less recovery time. They also typically cost less than traditional implants. Dr. Perry, an experienced mini implant dentist, has performed mini implant surgery for hundreds of patients.

Will Insurance Cover Implants?

Basic insurance policies don't cover dental implants. However, most plans do contribute to the cost of restorations and preparatory procedures such as gum disease treatment. We accept most major insurance plans, and our knowledgeable staff can help you determine how much your insurance will cover. If you don't have insurance, we also accept SmileAdvantage, an alternative to dental insurance that offers free and reduced prices on dental care.

Dental Implants Treatment Timeline The Long-Term Solution to Missing Teeth

Dr. Perry customizes treatment to each patient's needs, but in general, treatments are similar to this:
If you are concerned about oral surgery, Dr. Perry offers sedation options so you remain relaxed throughout your treatment.
If you are concerned about oral surgery, Dr. Perry offers sedation options so you remain relaxed throughout your treatment.

Consultation

Using digital x-rays and cone-beam scanning technology, Dr. Perry will assess your mouth and discuss your health to determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants.

Preparatory Procedures

Some patients need preparatory procedures for successful implant treatment. This can include treating gum disease or performing a bone graft to rebuild lost tissue. These treatments must be undertaken before the implants are placed.

Implant Placement

Dr. Perry often performs extractions and places implants in the same appointment. After teeth have been extracted, Dr. Perry will precisely place your implants using his advanced computer-guided surgical tools or surgical guides. These high-tech options ensure the correct positioning of the implant. In most cases, Dr. Perry can provide immediate temporary restorations so you won't have to leave the practice without teeth.

Healing Period

For four to six months, the implant and bone will be left alone to fuse, a process called osseointegration.

Abutment Placement

An abutment is a connector piece between the implant and your restoration. During minor surgery, the abutment will be attached to the implant. It will take about two weeks for the gum tissue to heal.

Impressions

After the gum has healed around the abutment, Dr. Perry will take impressions of the treatment area so that he can design your permanent custom restoration. Dr. Perry uses only high-quality dental materials and works closely with trusted labs to create a restoration that is natural-looking and comfortable.

Restoration

Dr. Perry will check the restoration in your mouth to ensure a good fit and comfortable bite. If no adjustments are needed, he will attach your new teeth to the implants and you can leave the office with a stunning new smile that looks like your natural teeth.
